
The Mayor of Bishop Auckland, Councillor Adam Zair visited the Memory Club on Tuesday 24th October to present members with a cheque for £258.93 from the Town Council Community Fund.
The Memory Club has only recently been established and provides and welcoming and friendly environment for people living with Alzheimer’s and their carers, to meet and offer one another practical support.
The club offers a range of stimulating and engaging activities, chosen by members and plan occasional trips to places of historical interest.
Pauline Roe, the Club Coordinator said:
“Club members recently enjoyed an exciting day trip to South Shields using the grant awarded and I would like to thank the Town Council for their support.”
The Memory Club meets fortnightly on Tuesday’s from 1:00pm to 3:30pm in The Four Clocks Centre, Bishop Auckland and new members are always welcome. For more information on the Memory Club, contact The Four Clocks Centre on 01388 609852.
Bishop Auckland Town Council’s Community Fund budgets an amount each year which is to be used to support organisations working for the benefit of the people of Bishop Auckland.
Applications are considered at the Finance Committee meetings held in June and December each year.
