The Mayor’s Charity Ball held at Bishop Auckland Town Hall on Saturday 17th February proved to be a great success raising £1350 for the Great North Air Ambulance!
One hundred guests enjoyed all the glamour you would expect from the occasion including being bag-piped into the hall by Piper Kevin York and Adam Makepeace, a three-course meal, dancing and musical entertainment by Soul Band The Smokin’ Spitfires.
A raffle, tombola and auction all helped to add to the impressive amount with many generous donations from local businesses in the town and also a signed Football from Manchester United Football Club which raised £100 at auction.
Councillor Zair said:
“What a fantastic evening, I am totally overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who attended.”
“There are so many people I would like to thank that made the Ball such a success, firstly I would like to thank all of the kind businesses in Bishop Auckland who donated raffle prizes, to all of the staff at the Town Hall for their hard work and to my parents and family for their support.”
“Finally I would like to say a very special thank you to Charlotte Newbold and James Nodding from St John’s School and Sixth Form College who both played the piano so beautifully for my guests; they have wonderful talent and are a credit to their families and the school.”
Tickets are now on sale for the Mayor’s Irish Night which will take place at The Park Head, Saturday 17th March 2018. For details contact the council on 01388 609852 or e mail council@bishopauckland-tc.gov.uk
