The Mayor, Councillor David Fleming presented a cheque for £100 to members of the Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club on Wednesday 20th March 2019. This grant was awarded from Bishop Auckland Town Council’s Community Fund to provide the Club with new table tennis nets.
Each week over 350 people access the Club and it offers weekly Junior coaching, Adult Social and coaching sessions, Disability sessions and performance sessions for all ages and abilities. The club is committed to continue to provide a place where everyone can access table tennis and the benefits associated with being a sports club and family.
Matt Porter, Club Chairman said: “The grant from the Town Council has allowed us to replace the nets on the Clubs table tennis tables.” “The tables go through a lot of use each day, with us being open for 30 hours per week and the club caters for a whole range of ages and abilities.”
More information can be found on the Bishop Auckland Table Tennis Club website at www.bishopaucklandttc.co.uk or by calling Matt on 07411 018856.
Mayor Dave Fleming said: “It is a privilege to award this grant to the Club and I’m sure the new table tennis nets will be put to great use by the club.”
