
A grant of £500 has been awarded to Bishop Auckland Bowling Club from the Town Council’s Community Fund. The Mayor, Councillor Joy Allen presented the grant to the club on Monday 24th June 2019 and will be used towards the purchase of a new lawnmower and leaf blower to maintain the bowling green.
Bishop Auckland Bowling Club has over 30 members, that take part in weekly training sessions and also competes in the South West Durham Veterans Bowling League. The club is encouraging players of all ages and abilities to join the club, to share their enjoyment of the game.
Bob Webster, the Club Chairman said: I would like to thank the Town Council for this award. It will help the club maintain what we feel is an important recreational facility, which can benefit both young and old in our local community.
The Town Council has allocated up to £5,000 to support local organisations working for the benefit of the residents of Bishop Auckland. Community groups and local charities are invited to apply for grants of up to £500.
