Horticultural and Produce Show 2019
Bishop Auckland’s Annual Horticultural and Produce Show never fails to deliver a wonderful display of locally grown flowers, produce, arts and crafts.
This years’ Show will take place on Saturday 28th September in the former McIntyre’s Store (25 Newgate Street), along with the Kids Corner section that will be held in the Newgate Shopping Centre.
Organised by the Town Council and in partnership working with Incredible Edible, Bishop Auckland and Coundon in Bloom, South Durham Enterprise Agency and the valued help of local growers, the Show offers over 40 classes for adults and children to get involved in. These range from classes for Leeks, Onions, Chrysanthemum and Dahlias for serious competition growers to wonky fruit and vegetables, a garden wildlife picture and design a poster competition. There is also a home produce category featuring Scones, Pies, Corsages, Flower arrangements and a favourite of the judges… Chocolate cake!
The exhibits in both McIntyre’s and the Newgate Shopping Centre will be open to view from 12:00 noon until 3:00pm and to discover who has been awarded prizes in this years’ show.
Presentations will be made by the Mayor of Bishop Auckland, Councillor Joy Allen in McIntyre’s followed by collection of Prize Money at 2:30pm.
