Lest We Forget.
Bishop Auckland Town Council in partnership with the Royal British Legion and 8th Battalion the Rifles, is organising a Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade on Sunday 10th November 2019.
The parade, which is being organised by the 8th Battalion the Rifles, will assemble at the Newgate Centre from 10:30am before marching to the War Memorial in the Market Place for the Act of Remembrance at 11:00am.
A spokesperson for the Royal British Legion said: “Arrangements are being made for a parade to march from the Newgate Street to the War Memorial in the market place, which will again be led by Bishop Auckland and District Pipes and Drums. We would welcome any veterans who would like to march in behind the parade to meet at the Newgate Centre for 10.30am.”
Members of the public who wish to pay their respects are asked to assemble in the Market Place from 10:30am.
Wreaths will be laid by members of various organisations, after which a Service of Remembrance will be held in St. Anne’s Church, in the Market Place at around 11:15am.
All are warmly welcome to lay a wreath or pay their respects at the memorial, and organisations/Individuals who do not register will have the opportunity to lay their wreath at the end of the service.
