Bishop Auckland Golf Club Awarded Community Fund Grant

A grant of £200 has been awarded to Bishop Auckland Golf Club from the Town Council’s Community Fund which has been used to help a team represent Bishop Auckland in the prestigious Annodata Matchplay Competition. The Mayor, Councillor Joy Allen presented the grant to the Club on Wednesday 12th February 2020.

After winning six qualifying matches, Bishop Auckland Golf Club earned an opportunity to compete in the Finals, which took place at the Montecastillo Golf Resort, Cadniz, Spain in November 2019.

Alan Bailey, Club Chairman said: “We see our golf club as very much part of the local community so we were delighted to receive a Community Fund grant to help us raise the profile of Bishop Auckland in this competition.”

The Town Council has allocated up to £5,000 to support local organisations working for the benefit of the residents of Bishop Auckland. Community groups and local charities are invited to apply for grants of up to £500.
