Bishop Auckland Town Council have been thrilled to work in partnership with others throughout the town to bring a safe Christmas Programme to Bishop Auckland and spread some festive cheer. We give thanks to our partners including The Auckland Project, South Durham Enterprise Agency’s Regeneration Development Coordinator, Rev’d Eileen Harrop, Daisy Arts, local Churches and dance groups, among others.
We have delivered the beautiful light projection onto St Anne’s Church, donated lights to Woodhouse Close Community Foodbank, Eden House Care Home and Bishop Trains to spread Christmas light through the Town.
Our Christmas Jingle colouring competition attracted over 360 entries, with prizes all sourced from Bishop Auckland businesses.
Windows in the Auckland Tower and around the Market Place have been decorated. There has been a Reindeer Trail through Auckland Park, online Church services and readings, Santa has read stories and Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Sue Snowdon has read poems and told a story.
On Saturday as the light projections came to an end we lit some of our iconic buildings, Churches and businesses throughout the town, in a sea if rainbow colours for 2020.
