Today, Monday 8th March is International Women’s Day 2021.
International Women’s Day was honoured for the first time in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland in 1911 with the day growing in importance throughout the globe and in 1975 the United Nations encouraged all member states to recognise Women’s Rights and International Peace in line with their historical and national traditions.
Unfortunately this year, Bishop Auckland Town Council are unable to host an event to celebrate this important day, but the day should still be recognised and celebrated.
Celebrate women’s achievement. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality
