Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade, Sunday 13th November 2022 – Lest We Forget
All are welcome to attend the annual Bishop Auckland Remembrance Day Service on Sunday 13th November 2022, at the War Memorial in the Market Place. Service arrangements are being coordinated by Bishop Auckland Town Council in partnership with the Royal British Legion, 8th Battalion the Rifles and Bishop Auckland Parish.
Mayor of Bishop Auckland, Cllr Michael Siddle said:
“We come together on Remembrance Sunday to honour those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. It is an honour to be part of these Acts of Remembrance to those from our Town who for our tomorrow, gave their today, and for that we are forever in their debt.”
A Service will be held at the War Memorial in the Market Place, from 10.50am, people are asked to start to assemble from 10.30am.
Prior to the service, a parade, which is being led by the 8th Battalion the Rifles, will assemble at the Newgate Centre from 10.30am before marching to the War Memorial. If you wish to be part of the parade you are welcome to register with the Town Council or simply arrive at for 10.30am.
Wreaths will be laid by members of various organisations, as part of the service. Following which a Service of Remembrance be held in St. Anne’s Church, in the Market Place at around 11:15am led by Reverend Matt Keddilty, of Bishop Auckland Parish.
All are warmly welcome to lay a wreath or pay their respects at the memorial, and organisations/Individuals are welcome to register attendance with the Town Council, however those who do not register will have the opportunity to lay their wreath at the end of the service.
