DESCRIPTION:Bishop Auckland Town Council is proud to announce the launch of their annual Youth Awards for 2025.  A prestigious program designed to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of young individuals in our community.  The awards aim to highlight those who have made significant contributions and attainment through leadership\, community service\, academics\, athletics\, or the arts. \nThe Youth Awards are open to individuals who reside\, attend school or a community group in Bishop Auckland.  Nominations will be accepted from teachers\, mentors\, community leaders\, and peers who have witnessed the nominees’ dedication and positive impact.  The winners will be selected by a panel of Council members and honoured at a special ceremony hosted by the Town Council on Monday 23rd June 2025. \nMayor of Bishop Auckland Councillor Mike Harker said:\n“Recognising and celebrating the achievements of our town’s youth is essential.” “These awards highlight the incredible talent\, dedication\, and hard work of our young citizens who are making a difference in our community.” \nAward categories will include\, but are not limited to: \n\nOvercoming Personal Difficulties Award \nArts & Culture Award\nSporting Achievement Award\nInspirational Young Person Award\n\nThe event compere will be Ms. Channy Thompson\, a singer/songwriter\, social media influencer and has supported artists such as Jess Glynne\, Sigala and Olly Murs. \nChanny said: “Being a North East Youth and Girl Guiding Ambassador I am passionate about promoting and encouraging the next generation of young people.  I absolutely love hosting the Bishop Auckland Youth Awards\, some of the stories are often heart breaking but always inspirational”. \nSponsorship for each category is welcome.  Businesses\, organisations\, and individuals interested in supporting the Youth Awards through sponsorship are encouraged to contact the Town Council for more details. \nNominations are now open and can be submitted via Bishop Auckland Town Council’s Youth Awards Microsoft Form\, or scanning the QR Code below. \n  \n \nYouth Awards Nomination Form: https://forms.office.com/e/zd5tqHcRpx \nThe deadline for nomination submissions is Saturday 19th April 2025.  Any nominations received after this deadline cannot be considered. \nThe winners will be announced at the awards ceremony held at Bishop Auckland Town Hall on Monday 23rd June 2025 at 6pm.\nThe awards ceremony is by invitation only and nominee’s will receive their invitation in due course. \n\nRules\n\nNomination applications to be open for parent\, carer\, youth group organisers\, school personnel\, peers.\nYou cannot nominate yourself for an award.\nThe nominated person must be a resident of Bishop Auckland or attend a school or regularly attend a group or activity in Bishop Auckland.\nNomination dates will be open from 8th March 2024 to the 19th April 2025. Late nominations will not be considered\nNominations must not exceed 200 words and be submitted on the online form (hard copies are available).\nA panel of judges will select the winners. DESCRIPTION:Riverfest 2025 is a family fun day organised by the Wear Rivers Trust with the aim of connecting the people of Bishop Auckland to nature and their local river. \nIt will be a festival style event with live music from JD and the Woodsman\, as well as a wide range of vendors promoting awareness of climate change and local environmental issues. There will also be crafts on offer as well as face painting\, an ice cream van and team games with Steve from Starboy Fitness & Massage. \nThere will be a range of community engagement workshops on a programme throughout the day. \nFood and drink will be available to buy from the rugby club bar. Feel free to bring a deck chair along! \nFree parking is available at the rugby club. \nThe Trust have set up a pay as you feel donation to the charity for your ticket and these funds raised will be used to improve river habitats in your area.\nPlease reserve one ticket per individual.
