Continue to build relationships with the community and voluntary organisations and with the statutory, public and private sector.

Promote long term plans

Encourage and promote economic and commercial long term plans for the town through partnership working.

Recognise and support diversity

Recognise and support diversity and seek to strengthen the inclusion of all residents of Bishop Auckland.

Bishop Auckland Town Council has an office based at Kingsway Court, 54 Kingsway Bishop Auckland and it currently employs 5 members of staff.

The Town Council staff are a full time Town Clerk, Deputy Town Clerk and Admin Assistant, supported by a part-time Governance Support Officer and part-time Allotment Officer.

Civility and Respect Pledge

Bishop Auckland Town Council, the National Association of Local Councils (NALC), the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC), and One Voice Wales (OVW), believe now is the time to put civility and respect at the top of the agenda and start a culture change for the local council sector.

Town Centre Regeneration

The Town Council identified regeneration of the town centre 
as a priority soon after it was established in 2007. Like many other towns, Bishop Auckland has suffered in the recent recession and changes in our shopping patterns.

The Town Council is working with partners, including The Auckland Project, Durham County Council and Kynren, to help influence and co-ordinate regeneration activities.
