The Mayor
Councillor Joy Allen was chosen as the thirteenth Mayor of Bishop Auckland at the Town Council Annual Meeting held on 7th May 2019.
Councillor Allen has been a Town Councillor since 2017 and is also a County Councillor at Durham County Council.
Her chosen charity for her term in Office is the Angel Trust.
The Angel Trust was formed as a local charity for the local people of Darlington and County Durham and aims to support individuals and organisations in the local community, by providing financial support and services to those in need.
Their aim is to improve the local community by supporting projects that enhance and improve the local community, the promotion of healthy recreational activities and offer relief from financial hardship.

The Mayor is keen to support organisations that contribute to the wellbeing of Bishop Auckland. She is always pleased to hear from community and charity groups, carer organisations, schools, youth groups etc. and also about individuals who have particular achievements to celebrate, 100th birthdays, special wedding anniversaries and the like.
