It’s the Season of Goodwill to all, and the Mayor of Bishop Auckland, Adam Zair, has just delivered a festive cheque for £150 to Father Dennis Tindall at St Wilfrid’s Church.
Bishop Auckland Fellowship of Christian Churches will host a special Christmas lunch at noon on Christmas Day, at Bishop Auckland Methodist Church, which is opposite the hospital on Cockton Hill Road.
Anyone is welcome, whether they are part of a church in the town or not.
Mayor Adam Zair said:
“We were all very moved when we heard the story of a gentleman who attended the Christmas Lunch last year.”
“He told Father Tindall that the year before he had a cup of coffee and a bowl of cornflakes for his Christmas dinner which is just heartbreaking, we don’t want anyone to be alone this Christmas.”
“We truly hope that everyone who attends has a lovely day where they can enjoy a hot Christmas lunch and enjoy the company of others, we wish them all a very Happy Christmas and give thanks and much praise to those who volunteer their time to make it all happen on the day.”
