Bishop Auckland Town Council would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the dedicated volunteers who gave their time and energy to help replant the town’s 60 hanging baskets.
Thanks to their hard work and community spirit, the town will once again be bursting with colour over the next few weeks and months, ready to welcome residents and visitors alike this summer. The vibrant displays are a key part of the Town Council’s efforts to enhance the local environment and bring pride to Bishop Auckland.
The Town Council would also like to give a special thank you to Beech Tree Nurseries for supplying the plants and compost for all the baskets at short notice and advising of how to plant them, and to Deanne, Tesco Community Champion from the Tesco Extra, Bishop Auckland store for the donation of refreshments and snacks to keep our volunteers going throughout the planting sessions.
Cllr Michael Siddle, Chair of the Allotment and Environment Committee said:
“After our call to action, we are incredibly grateful to every volunteer who rolled up their sleeves and got involved, in re-planting the hanging baskets.” “We pulled this project together very quickly, had the old basket removed and the new ones back up within a matter of days.” “These beautiful baskets are not just about flowers – they represent the strong community spirit that makes Bishop Auckland so special.”
The Council recognises that without the support of local volunteers, projects like this simply wouldn’t be possible. They hope that everyone takes a moment to enjoy the displays and the effort behind them.
