Bishop Auckland Town Council is inviting residents, community groups, businesses and partners to help shape the future of the town through consultation on a series of new strategic plans covering community, allotments and the environment, and the Council’s wider corporate priorities.
The draft strategies set out the Council’s ambitions for 2026–2031 and aim to create a greener, more connected, resilient and forward-looking Bishop Auckland.
The consultation includes three key areas:
- Community Strategy
- Supporting wellbeing and inclusion
- Delivering inclusive events and activities
- Improving community safety and resilience
- Strengthening communication and participation
- Allotment & Environment Strategy
- Improving allotment standards and transparency
- Reducing waiting times
- Supporting biodiversity and climate resilience
- Encouraging community planting and volunteering
- Strategic & Corporate Strategy
- Strengthening partnerships and advocacy
- Preparing for future service delivery
- Modernising governance and digital systems
- Supporting the town’s long-term development ambitions
The Council is keen to hear from as many residents as possible to ensure the plans reflect local priorities and aspirations.
Councillor Michael Siddle, Mayor of Bishop Auckland said:
“These strategies set out an ambitious but realistic vision for Bishop Auckland’s future. We want residents to help shape the priorities that matter most to them — whether that’s greener spaces, stronger communities, better communication or future opportunities for the town.”
