The Town Council has awarded Cockton Hill Bowls Club £193.87 from its Community Fund, to purchase new bowls targets and bowls mats.

Cockton Hill Bowls Club plays in various leagues and currently has around 30 members, from all age groups, including schools and colleges in the area.  It provides a great environment to enjoy gentle exercise and have fun. The club is looking for new members to join, whether they are new to the sport or seasoned players.

The Mayor, Councillor Dave Fleming presented the cheque to members of the club on Wednesday 25th July 2018.
Dave said: It was a privilege to meet the members of the club and to present them with a grant from the Town Council, I’m sure they will gain a lot of enjoyment from the new bowls equipment.”

The Town Council has allocated up to £5,000 to support local organisations working for the benefit of the residents of Bishop Auckland.  Community groups and local charities are invited to apply for grants of up to £500.
