Council confirms co-options

27 June 2025

At the meeting of Bishop Auckland Town Council on Tuesday 24 June 2025 the council considered the applications which it had received for the two vacancies, one in the Henknowle Ward and one in the Woodhouse Close Ward to be filled by co-option.

The nine candidates were invited to the meeting to present to the council why they felt that they would be suitable for the position, and why they wished to represent the residents of these wards.

Following the presentation questions were asked, and then nominations and voting took place.

Mr D Wilkinson was co-opted for Henknowle Ward and Mr A Legge was co-opted for for Woodhouse Close Ward.

On Wednesday 25th June 2025, both candidates have signed the formal ‘Declaration of Acceptance of Office’ with the Town Clerk and they will both be invited to attend the July Town Council meeting as co-opted councillors to represent their wards.
