A Heartfelt Thank You for the Knitted Poppy Wall

4 November 2026

A heartfelt thank you to the ladies of the Bishop Auckland Women’s Institute (WI), SSAFA Armed Forces Charity and to Volunteers for helping to create this beautiful knitted poppy wall ahead of Remembrance Sunday.  The time, care and effort put into the display have created a touching tribute to those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

This Sunday (8th November 2026), everyone is welcome to join Bishop Auckland’s Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service.

The Parade will assemble outside the Newgate Shopping Centre (Newgate Street) from 10.30am before making its way along Newgate Street to the War Memorial in the Market Place for the Act of Remembrance at 11am.

Those wishing to lay a wreath are asked to gather at St Anne’s Church from 10.30am and follow the parade to the War Memorial.

Following the Act of Remembrance, everyone is welcome to attend the Service of Remembrance at St Anne’s Church at approximately led by Reverend Matt Keddilty.

Together, we will pause, reflect and remember.
